Data Analyses

Every agency has a need to perform data analyses activities but not all agencies have the staff, skills, or training needed to perform these tasks. That's why every client has an annual maintenance contract in place. With each annual maintenance contract, Chaparral Systems Corporation staff are allocated to a client for a certain number of hours per year for data analyses support and training. During implementation of the TRADAS system there are standard data analyses services provided by Chaparral Systems Corporation staff and for clients that request additional data analyses services, a separate contract is executed on a client specific basis.

A successful traffic data program has many components. Having reliable and effective traffic data collection equipment is the beginning point. Next, an agency must have a centralized traffic data warehousing and collection, quality control, and analysis software package such as Chaparral Systems Corporation TRADAS. Then, even after quality traffic data are collected and summarized in the software system, there are other components required to maintain an effective traffic data program. These involve answering statistical questions such as "How should we group automatic traffic recorders (ATRs) to establish the most useful factor groups?" "How many and what type of permanent traffic recorders do we need for computing adjustment factors?" and, "How many short-term counts do we need to provide effective coverage of our system?"

Chaparral Systems Corporation staff have developed the expertise and automated procedures to answer these questions. Chaparral Systems Corporation staff have performed numerous statistical analyses of traffic data in various roles such as being asked to provide technical assistance for traffic data in the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program. Our current efforts include analyses in support of revisions of the FHWA's Traffic Monitoring Guide (TMG). This background makes Chaparral Systems Corporation staff the most qualified traffic data analyses vendor in the industry to perform traffic data analyses of any level of complexity.

Examples of the types of analysis products offered by Chaparral Systems Corporation include are:

To minimize costs, Chaparral Systems Corporation staff perform analyses at Chaparral's offices in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Chaparral has a flexible pricing structure that allows these services to be provided on either a one-time basis or as recurring services. These pricing arrangements include fixed annual fees and transaction-based pricing.

All of our analyses products are fully supported by our research staff. They provide full support to assist you in data aggregation and transfer, analysis design, and any other technical issues related to these analyses.

Each analysis product includes a written report. Chaparral can produce these reports as printed documents, or as Web-ready documents for clients that want these products to be generally accessible. These reports, and the underlying services on which they are based, can provide the "missing links" an agency may need to develop an effective and useful traffic data collection and analysis program for their organization.
