| A successful traffic data program
has many components. Of course, having reliable and effective traffic
data collection equipment is the beginning point. Next, one needs
excellent traffic data collection, quality control, and analysis
software such as Chaparral Systems Corporation's (Chaparral's)
TRADAS (TRAffic DAta System). However, even after quality traffic
data are collected and summarized, there are other issues that
must be addressed to maintain an effective traffic data program.
These involve answering such statistical questions as "How
should we group automatic traffic recorders (ATRs) to establish
the most useful factor groups?" "How many and what type
of permanent traffic recorders do we need for computing adjustment
factors?" And, "How many short-term counts do we need
to provide effective coverage of our system?"
Chaparral has developed the expertise and procedures to answer
these questions. We have performed numerous statistical analyses
of traffic data in our role as Technical Assistance Contractor
for Traffic in the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) Long-Term
Pavement Performance (LTPP) program. Our current efforts include
analyses in support of revisions of the FHWA's Traffic Monitoring
Guide. This background makes us most qualified to perform traffic
data analyses of any level of complexity. | Examples of the types of analysis
products we can offer are:
- Determination of factor group assignments for ATRs.
- Development
of traffic data collection sampling plans.
- Determination of vehicle
length categories for length-based vehicle classification.
- Development
of precision estimates for annual vehicle distance traveled (AVDT)
and annual average daily traffic (AADT) statistics.
To minimize costs, we perform these analyses at Chaparral's offices
in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We have flexible pricing arrangements
that allow these services to be provided on either a one-time basis
or as recurring services. These pricing arrangements include fixed
annual fees and transaction-based pricing.
All of our analysis products are fully supported by our research
staff. They provide full support to assist you in data aggregation
and transfer, analysis design, and any other technical issues related
to these analyses.
Each analysis product includes a written report. We can produce
these reports as printed documents, or as Web-ready documents,
if the client wants these products to be generally accessible.
These reports, and the underlying services on which they are based,
can provide the "missing links" you may need to develop
an effective and useful traffic data collection and analysis program
for your organization. |
